Most mortgage insiders remain relatively confident the U.S. won’t fall back into recession. a survey released last week by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia showed forecasters lowering already reduced odds of a double-dip recession. At the same time forecasters have been pushing back odds of a Fed rate tightening.
Great article on mortgage rate locks. I am very tempted to recommend floating the rate in this situation. Mortgage interest rates are available at their best levels of the year. Lender closing costs are really being hammered by insurance and regulatory reform. If investor sentiment on the global economic environment really has soured and stocks move continue to move lower, mortgage rates would fall a few more basis points but mortgage lenders would be slow to pass along improvements. On the other hand, if the recent downturn in stocks is just another "break", similar to what we've seen several times over the year and stocks end up recovering and extending their rally, then the flight to safety in Treasuries that is preventing mortgage rates from rising will be reversed and consumer borrowing costs will go up as investor funds are reallocated to higher yielding assets.

I don't comment on mortgage blogs very often, only when I couldn't pass up letting you know how helpful your mortgage refinance article was for my family. We were considering home refinancing options when your article convinced us to shop rates from approved FHA lenders and that is what we did. We ended up locking into a fixed rate mortgage at 4.5%! Thanks for your home financing advice!

wow. that is alot of mortge information. Marketing is more critical than ever in the home financing and mortgage industry. Direct mail continues to get great results with leads that turn to closed loans. Let's see if we can work something out that benefits your mortgage brokers and lenders who need help with advertising.

Mortage fraud continues to run rampiantly in the US. Fortunately FHA loans offer distressed homeowners a second chance to refinance into a fixed mortgage that works with their income. Thanks for updating our company with new loan programs.
